What a wonderful idea, carry the Zagat guide on your Kindle except that the Kindle version isn’t searchable.
Listings are interactive (ie. you can go to neighborhood section and click on a restaurant) but you’ll be paging through the neighborhood section until you get to where you want to go. I’m amazed that no one thought to set up the Kindle version so it would be useful and searachable – an expanded index for easy navigation would have done the trick. Current Kindle Zagat in non-searchable format is cumbersome and not practical.
What a dissappointment.

I am never disappointed in this book. It gives ratings on the 4 most important quality categories of a restaurant: food, service, decor and price. There are brief, but revealing, vignettes of each restaurant, giving one a sense of the place instantly. Superimposed on this structure are groupings by location, type of food, and also top winners in the 4 areas of quality. This is an invaluable guide to eating in a new place!!

I buy this guide every couple of years. I depend on it for my quarterly NY visits. It has restaurants listed in alpha order as well as by area of the city – as well as by type of food. And if you’re coming with the family it even has a family friendly section. Very much worth the price.
